Richard Thorn

Born in Devon in 1952, Richard studied at Newton Abbot School of Art. Sketching and painting from an early age, his time at art school only served to compound what had already become a considerable self taught talent. Influenced by the American Masters such as Winslow Homer, Andrew Wyeth, Edward Hopper and Philip Jameson, Richard's style owes much to their contemporary approach to watercolour painting. Having had many successful exhibitions and one man shows in the Sough of England, his strong distinctive style and subtle interpretation of light make him one of the country's leading watercolourists.

Richard has completed many tranquil scenes of Devon's beautiful coastline, but is equally at home depicting the meandering canals of Venice. With a career spanning over twenty years Richard has firmly establihsed himself as one our most gifted local painters.

P.S. He is a fantastic jazz guitarist too!
